Arī šogad tāpat kā pagājušo gadu Klubs "Māja" jaunatne vienotai Eiropai koordinē EK akciju Latvijā "Atpakaļ uz skolu 2012". Akcijas laikā valsts un ES institūcijās strādājošie, kā arī eksperti ES jautājumos tiks aicināti no 7.-9.maijam doties uz savām kādreizējām skolām, lai pārrunātu ar jauniešiem ES jautājumus un dalītos savā darba pieredzē.

 

 

Hello everybody!

More than 5 months I am now in my EVS in Klubs „Māja“! And finally the hard and cold winter has arrived and I am very happy about it as I wanted to experience a real Nordic winter atmosphere. Meanwhile everybody seems to be annoyed by the weather; so I guess I am the only person in Latvia who is demanding always for more snow and lower temperatures :) Now when I will return back in Germany, I can say that I have experienced -28°C with freezing breath on my scarf and ice-glasses. Before I could only remember how -10°C in Germany felt. For Dina this was very funny: in the beginning of my EVS I said that I won’t dress like an onion in the winter because I want to look fancy on the streets even in winter. But now I have to confess that you need indeed MANY MANY clothes to survive in the cold outside! Well now who needs fancy jackets anyway… :) and according to wearing glasses: in Latvia there are obviously only people without any problems with their eyes. At least I have never seen so less people with glasses like here. I guess I can count the people I know so far on one hand!

In my last blog I mentioned how kind and cool were the students from Jugla schools 8 class. Well, today I had really really good experiences with also 9th and 7th grade from that school. They are just amazing kids! First of all – their English level is really good. The second thing is that they were really nice and positive, asked a lot of questions and were interested in Estonia and EVS. Also of course what do I like in Latvia and what is different here from my home. In the end of the lesson with 9th grade the class gave me map of Latvia with little post-its. Each student had to write down a place they would suggest that I should visit here. First thing when I got home from the visit, was to put the map up to my wall! In some places I have already been, in some places I was planning to go before I met them but some places are something new, so their help was definitely needed to give me the right direction. Thank you guys!

Happy New Year to all of you even it is almost the middle of January! :)

Time is really running in Latvia as I am now 4 months right here. Christmas has passed by so quickly. I took the holidays to spend this time at home in Germany with my friends and family. Just before leaving we had a christmas celebration with Klubs „Māja”. It was an interesting evening with making traditional Latvian christimas decoration. After that we had a big dinner with lots of small and different snacks. So far I found out that in Germany the influence of the Christ religion is much bigger than in Latvia.

Now i have been 3 months as a volunteer in Klubs "Māja" and in Latvia. That time has been one of the most intense one in my life, this i can say for sure! Right now i am teaching estonian (greetings to all of the students - you are great!), giving photo lessons in Rigas Estonian school (for Latvian kids who speak perfect estonian! Amazing!), visiting schools to talk about EU, EVS and Estonia. At the same time we (Tobi and I) have some side tasks, like organizing different events and projects.
